Do Good Again and Again and Take Delight in it | Blissful is the Accumulation of Good

A Message from Our President

What Is a True Legacy?

A Personal Reflection

Pause and Look Within

Life brings kindness and compassion, but also anger, division, competition, and suffering. In the constant race of life, we can become so busy pursuing the next achievement that we forget to pause and look within.

Take just one, two, or five quiet minutes each day and ask yourself: What am I pursuing? How much of my precious life am I giving to it? And is it truly worth it?

What Is Temporary

There is nothing wrong with having the necessities and comforts of life. But possessions, titles, wealth, medals, recognition, and positions are temporary. If we are fortunate to live to an old age, there may come a day when we cannot walk as we once did, rise easily from our bed, care for ourselves without assistance, or think with the same clarity.

At that moment, a title cannot lift us from our bed. A medal cannot restore our strength. Wealth cannot return our youth. Position cannot stop the passing of time.

And we often say, “I am doing all of this to leave a legacy for my children and grandchildren.”

But perhaps we should ask ourselves: What is a true legacy?

What a True Legacy Is

A true legacy is not only the wealth or possessions we leave behind. Our children and grandchildren also have their own journey to walk, their own abilities to discover, their own work to do, and their own purpose to find.

What we teach them while we are here may be far more valuable than what we leave them when we are gone.

If we teach them kindness, integrity, compassion, responsibility, courage, respect for life, and the value of meaningful work, we give them something no fortune can replace. We give them the foundation to stand on their own feet, contribute to the lives of others, and build something meaningful for the generation that follows them.

That is a legacy they can carry—not merely something they can inherit.

Understanding While We Still Have Time

There may also come a time when the people who once surrounded us are no longer beside us. Some may have completed their own journey. Others may be facing the same realities of age, while younger generations are occupied with their own responsibilities and lives.

This is not something to fear. It is something to understand while we still have time.

None of us knows the hour, the minute, or the second when life may change.

How Achievement Might Be Measured

So perhaps true achievement is not measured by how much we accumulate, but by how much suffering we prevent, how many lives we touch with kindness, what values we teach those who come after us, and how often we choose understanding over anger.

Before hatred, pride, or the pursuit of “more” consumes another precious day, remember: this day will never come again.

While we can still think, walk, speak, help, teach, forgive, and choose compassion—this is the time.

Take a few quiet minutes.

Look within.

Ask what truly matters.

Choose kindness. Choose compassion. Choose peace.

And if we wish to leave a legacy, let us leave behind human beings who know how to live with compassion, responsibility, wisdom, and purpose.

That may be worth far more than anything money can buy.
