Deputy Financial Officer – Europe
Global Markets, Banking, Trading & International Finance
A senior-level appointment for a well-connected financial professional to support our international financial activities and relationships with banks, institutional investors, custodians, clearing and settlement institutions, and qualified counterparties. This is not an entry-level accounting position.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and well-connected financial professional to serve as Deputy Financial Officer – Europe. The successful candidate will support our international financial activities and assist in developing and maintaining professional relationships with banks, financial institutions, institutional investors, custodians, clearing and settlement institutions, broker-dealers, trading professionals and other qualified international financial counterparties.
Qualifications & Professional Experience
The preferred candidate should possess substantial knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:
- European and international banking and financial markets.
- Established professional relationships with European and international banks and financial institutions.
- Investment banking, institutional banking, capital markets, structured finance, treasury and global markets.
- Medium-Term Notes (MTNs), bonds, notes and institutional securities.
- ISIN-based securities and international securities transactions.
- Institutional trading and secondary-market transactions.
- Euroclear and other international clearing, custody and securities-settlement systems.
- Delivery Versus Payment (DVP) and Free of Payment (FOP) settlement procedures.
- SWIFT banking and securities communications.
- Familiarity with relevant SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 messaging used in institutional financial transactions.
- Knowledge of MT760, MT799 and related bank-to-bank communications and procedures, where applicable.
- Structured transactions, credit facilities, institutional financing and lines of credit.
- Collateralized financing and securities-backed transactions.
- International custodians, broker-dealers, asset managers and institutional investors.
- Cross-border financial transactions and international banking procedures.
- AML, KYC, compliance, sanctions screening, due diligence and international regulatory requirements.
- Ability to communicate professionally with senior bankers, compliance departments, trading desks, custodians, legal counsel, financial institutions and institutional counterparties.
- Excellent written and verbal English. Additional European languages would be an advantage.
- Exceptional professionalism, confidentiality, discretion and integrity.
Particularly Desirable Experience
Preference should be given to candidates who have held senior positions or substantial professional experience within international banks, investment banks, private banks, securities firms, institutional trading desks, asset-management companies, structured-finance firms, custody or clearing institutions, or other regulated financial institutions.
We are particularly interested in professionals who understand the complete institutional transaction process — from documentation, compliance and due diligence through banking, custody, clearing, settlement, financing and/or trading. The successful candidate should be capable of communicating at the senior institutional level and developing productive relationships with financial institutions and qualified counterparties.
European Market Experience
Although this is a remote international position, preference will be given to candidates with substantial experience and professional relationships in major European financial markets, particularly Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands and other major European financial centers.
Again, this does not mean that applicants must be European citizens. We are looking for the right professional expertise, international banking experience and established relationships within the European financial markets.
Work Arrangement
The position may be performed remotely, allowing qualified candidates to work internationally. However, the successful candidate must be available for international communications across time zones and, when necessary, meetings or travel involving banks, financial institutions and other counterparties.
Compensation & Benefits
A competitive compensation and benefits package will be discussed directly with qualified candidates, based upon professional experience, qualifications, responsibilities and the scope of the appointment.
