Legal
Helping Hands, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable organization registered in Texas, United States of America, and recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are non-religious and non-political.
This policy explains what we do with personal information across both our website at hhcharity.org and our Helping Hands mobile app for Android and iOS. Where the two differ, we say so.
If you have a question about privacy, or want to exercise any of the rights described below, write to us at info@hhcharity.org.
The Helping Hands app is built to need nothing from you. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no registration and no profile. You cannot create one, so there is nothing for us to store.
Specifically, the app does not:
The text, project information and figures you read in the app are stored inside the app itself, which is why it works with no connection. The app uses the internet for exactly two things: loading our photographs from hhcharity.org, and opening a link in your browser when you tap a button such as Donate, Email us or a page on our website.
When the app displays a photograph, your device requests that image file from our website in the ordinary way any browser would. Our web host records that request in its server logs, which include the requesting IP address. We do not connect those logs to you, build a profile from them, or use them for anything beyond keeping the site running and secure.
Google Play and the Apple App Store handle the download itself and give us anonymous, aggregated statistics such as the number of installs and crash counts. We cannot identify you from those figures. Your dealings with Google and Apple are covered by their own privacy policies, not ours.
We never receive your card number. Neither our app nor our website takes payment details directly. When you choose to donate, you are taken to the secure checkout page of our payment provider, SwipeSimple, and you enter your card details there, on their system.
SwipeSimple processes that payment as an independent provider under its own privacy policy and its own security obligations. What we receive back from them is the record of the donation needed to run a charity properly and to thank you: the amount, the date, and the name and contact details you gave them for your receipt.
We use that donation record to issue your receipt and acknowledgment, to keep the accounting and tax records U.S. law requires of a 501(c)(3) organization, to confirm the project or program your gift supports, and, if you have asked for it, to list you as a supporter.
Our Buy a Brick and Wall of Confidence programs involve an inscription, such as a name, family name, dedication or memorial message, and a preferred center location. We hold what you send us for those purposes, and we engrave and display only what you ask us to. Recognition on our website supporter listing is optional and happens only if you request it.
On hhcharity.org we hold only what you choose to send us.
Our website runs on WordPress and sets the small number of cookies needed for pages to work properly, for example to remember a form you have part-filled or to keep an administrator signed in. These are not used to follow you around other websites.
We also use standard website analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful, so that we can improve them. This tells us how the site is used in aggregate; it is not used to identify individual visitors.
Our work serves children, but our app and website are intended for adults who wish to support that work. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.
The app collects nothing from anyone, of any age. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through our website, email info@hhcharity.org and we will delete it.
Photographs of the children and communities we serve are published with the consent of those responsible for them, and we remove any image on request from a parent, guardian or the individual pictured.
We share information only with the service providers who make our work possible, and only to the extent they need it: our payment provider, our web host, and our email delivery service. Each handles it under its own obligations and may not use it for anything else. We will also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to comply with a tax audit or a lawful order.
Donation records are kept for as long as U.S. tax and charity accounting rules require. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and to keep a sensible record of our correspondence. We delete what we no longer need.
Whatever country you are in, you may ask us to:
Email info@hhcharity.org and we will deal with your request. We will not treat you differently, or refuse you service, for asking.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these are your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation. If you are a California resident, they are your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We extend them to everyone rather than only to the people who can insist.
We are based in the United States, so information you send us is handled there. Data protection law in the United States may differ from the law where you live.
Our website is served over an encrypted connection, and payment details are handled entirely by our payment provider on their own secured systems. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us, we cannot promise absolute security.
Our app and website link out to other organizations, including our payment provider and our social media pages. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, governed by their privacy policy, not this one.
If we change this policy we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be made clear rather than slipped in. This version is effective from 15th October, 2026.
This policy covers Helping Hands, Inc., its website at hhcharity.org, and the Helping Hands mobile app. It does not cover any other organization, and no other organization's programs are described on this page.
